As Primale of the Chosen, he is to father the sons and daughters who will ensure that the traditions of the race survive and that there are warriors to fight those who want all vampires extinguished.
As his first mate, the Chosen Cormia wants to win not only his body but his heart for herself - she sees the emotionally scarred male behind all his noble responsibility. Review & Comments
This story is a messy one - two major plotlines, lots of action, more intertwined relationships and sub-plots than you can shake a stick at, plus emotionally overloaded content like drug addiction and the aftermath of rape - and yet the mess is so realistic and the author's handling of the characters so deft and well-written that this book is going on short my list of favorites.
Some readers will be disappointed that the interactions between the lead romantic couple is not the primary focus of the story. But you can't have a romance without characters, and the character development here is stunning.
