Review & Comments

This is a dark series in a lot of ways. Humor offsets some of the gloom, but there is plenty of dark left to go around. Eugenie has complex motivations and her actions are often less than admirable. I was impressed with how well Richelle Mead managed to pull this off in a first-person narrative.

The emotional content of the books can be uncomfortable as well. Rape and the threat of rape is a constant theme. The author handles it well, but do be careful if rape is a trigger for you.

Despite the focus on action, there are some wonderful romantic connections here between Eugenie and others which help highlight the different facets of her character.
